Godzilla Eats Again

November 13, 2010 Leave a comment

I know alot of these posts are pretty mundane but I like adding to my blog, and im sure my animals appreciate it haha. Anyways had a extra mouse dethawing in my fridge so I decided to feed someone today. Seeing Godzilla is my biggest snake I figured she could use it the most. I accidently dropped it in the sand so I had to wash it off thats why it looks a little wet. I try not to get their food in the sand so they dont get impacted. I ended up putting it in a dish for her then sticking her nose in front of it. She didnt bite it at first but when I used my feeding tongs to wiggle the mouse she took it. Anyways check the pictures out, thats partly why I put these posts up.

Monty Starts Shedding

November 12, 2010 Leave a comment
Monty begins his shed this month. It started a few days ago when I noticed he started looking a little pale. He really hasn’t moved a lot either, he’s been behind his rock for 2 days now lol. Not a lot of shed has come off yet it seems to be coming off in pieces. I don’t want to bother him to much he seems a little more sensitive than usual. Anyways here’s the picture can’t really say much more than that.

Charlie the Kenyan Sand Boa

November 11, 2010 Leave a comment

Heres my little bitey male Kenyan sand boa. Got him and his partner off kijiji from an apparent reptile rescue. I felt more like i rescued him after I saw where he came from but we wont get into that. Dont know much about him or his partner, but I believe he is full grown and seems to be in good health. He has had a little shed stuck to his tail for a while but ive been soaking him in his water bowl a little and it seems to be comming off slowly. Hes not as bad as his partner but they are both pretty aggressive it seems. I really dont like sticking my hand in their cage they strike very fast. I use a snake hook to handle them and it seems to work a little better then trying to grab their tails lol. They were sold to me as a breeding pair and I hope to try breeding them in the spring.

Godzilla The Kenyan Sand Boa

Here she is, my female Kenyan sand boa. Got her as a breeding pair of sand boas on kijiji (like most of my reptiles lol). Shes about 2 feet long, quick and very agressive. She strikes almost anything, but seems to have calmed down quite a bit since I got her. I dont think her previous owners treated her very good. I hope to breed her and Charlie in the spring. I named her Godzilla because when I got her she looked huge to me, as well as very fast. Shes still got a little shed stuck to her tail and I’ve been trying to soak her, but shes hard to handle.

Monty the Python

Just wanted to show everyone my little boy Monty. I picked him up on kijiji from a kid that had a new albino he was taking care of. I brought him home where I had him living in a bucket on top of my computer to stay warm. Things have changed an he now lives in a nice comfy exoterra 12x12x18 with a heat pad under his rock. I feed him and my other two sand boas every week. People say ball pythons are hard to feed but I havnt had a problem with him. If he gets agitated he trys to hide when im feeding him, I just put the feeder on top of his rock and he still eats it. Only concern I have for him is I really havnt noticed if hes pooped since I got him. He seems ok, but im not an expert. If anyone knows anything please email me fleshwounded@gmail.com and let me know if there’s anything I can do. Anyways just wanted to show him off there’s lots more to come. Look forward to seeing my sand boas and giant bent-toed gecko.

Geckie The Giant Bent-Toed Gecko

Heres the newest addition to the collection. From what I have been told theyre relatively new to the scene. There wasnt alot of info when I got him, but I managed to identify him as a cyrtodactylus irianjayaensis. Hes pretty big at around 12″ but seems pretty happy in his new custom 3x3x1.5 foot cage. Hes eating crickets regularly, and also seems to like sitting half way in his water bowl. I hope to pair him up but it doesnt seem like theres alot of breeder or even info on breeders. He was pretty docile when we first got him but now that hes in his new cage he kinda seems to want to be left alone. Even bit me a couple times lol.
